Q. Does a Professional Organizer do housekeeping services (like cleaning houses)?
A. No. If you want your house cleaned, then you would want to hire a housecleaning service. A professional organizer is very different. A professional organizer: Will help you keep your papers, possession, and your life organized and in order. Will teach you the skills needed to solve your organizing problems and help you create order out of chaos. Tailors solutions to meet your organizing needs, now and in the future.

Q. Do you provide hands-on assistance when working with your clients?
A. Yes, I do hands-on assistance and enjoy it very much. Some of my clients lack either the time or physical ability to do the project themselves. However, many clients want hands-on assistance because they do not want to tackle any project alone.

A.That depends on the individual, the nature and scope of the project that needs to be completed, and how involved the client will be for the duration of the project. For some clients, learning some basic skills and how to apply them to their situation may be all that is needed. Other persons may want their Professional Organizer to work with them until their projects are completed.

Q. If I can get myself organized, do I have to get rid of things that mean so much to me?
A. No. Getting rid of your treasured belongings is not the purpose of becoming organized. Being organized means that you can find what you want when you need or want it. I will help you evaluate what you wish to keep in your life so that you are happy with the decisions you make.

Q. Do you do the same thing the organizing shows do on TV?
A. First, I would like to say that the process in organizing my clients would be similar minus the production team, carpenters, painters, and general helpers. While the transformation you see on television is quite remarkable, it is not quite reality. The process is an evolution of gathering information, formulating a plan, and working together with my clients to accomplish what they desire or need in order to become organized.

Q. What will a professional organizer do that I can't do myself?
A. Your ability to think clearly and act logically tends to disappear when you are stressed and overwhelmed. A Professional Organizer will bring logic, common sense and an impartial point of view to help you bring things into focus again.

Q. People tell me I could do it myself. I used to be organized and have tried many times to get organized again. I've purchased a dozen organizing books and I still don't get it. What am I doing wrong?
A. Many of my clients have been organized before, but life has given them some setbacks and now they feel overwhelmed. They are drowning in 'stuff' or are over-extended in commitments. Just as you would call a plumber when you have a leaky faucet, calling me will help you get back on track.

Q. I'm so embarrassed having you come to my home, but I need help getting back on track and "on top of things." Can you help me?
A. Yes, I can help you. Please do not be embarrassed to have me come to your home. I am here to help you get organized, not to pass judgment on you. I will teach you to become better organized, have the ability to find things when you need them, while becoming more productive and less stressed. If and when needed, I can set up maintenance visits to keep things running smoothly and in control.

Q. Will you stay for the entire project?
A. I will stay as long as you need me. However, it is my intention and hope to be able to teach you lasting organizational skills that you can use now and in the future.
